Product Information

MOTU's flagship DAW now includes a complete Dolby Atmos® mixing environment, AI-powered stem separation and a visual Arrangement Strip that lets students and educators work at professional studio level for a reduced academic price. Digital Performer 12 Academic Edition requires proof of eligibility from an accredited educational institution and delivers the full feature set of the commercial release across studio production, film scoring, live performance and post-production workflows. The built-in Atmos renderer places up to 128 channels anywhere in a 3D sound field with elevation control, monitors on speaker arrays up to 9.1.6 or binaurally on standard headphones, and exports ADM files ready for spatial streaming platforms and equipped mix stages.

The proprietary AI stem separation engine extracts drums, bass, vocals, guitar, ensemble strings and ensemble brass from finished stereo mixes in a single operation, opening up remix workflows, dialogue isolation from background audio, and practice tracks with individual parts muted. One-click track freezing now leaves channels available for mixing while frozen, and track presets store complete signal chains from I/O routing and EQ through to plug-in stacks. Tags make large templates searchable, while imported key command sets from Pro Tools, Cubase, Nuendo, Logic and Live bring familiar shortcuts into the DP environment. High frame rate support extends to 120 fps, and MusicXML round-tripping connects to Dorico, Sibelius and MuseScore for notation work.

The Arrangement Strip colour-codes song sections across every track and reorders them by dragging, with quick gestures to duplicate, snip, split and delete entire passages without touching individual regions. The included Performer Producer Pack adds loops, MIDI chord progressions and hundreds of arpeggio patterns, while built-in tutorials and Flyover Help provide context-sensitive guidance. Academic pricing opens up the same film scoring, surround mixing and immersive audio tools used in commercial studios to students, teachers and staff verified through accredited institutions.
