Akai Professional: Changing the Landscape of Music Since 1984
Akai is a Japanese electronics company renowned for audio and music-related products. Founded in 1946, it manufactured reel-to-reel tape recorders. In the 1980s, Akai introduced their professional audio branch and gained fame for its innovative electronic musical instruments, like the MPC series which heavily influenced hip-hop and electronic music production. In 2005, InMusic purchased Akai Professional and established it as a standalone brand, carrying on the legacy of the MPC series into the 21st century. Today, Akai is a first-choice brand in professional audio, with the MPK Mini-series MIDI controllers extensively used by hobbyists and professional creators alike.
